INTRODUCING…Friday Five! Our newest, weekly blog adventure is a way for us to share our passions with you. Whether a list of highlights from the past week, a staff spotlight, student spotlight, volunteer spotlight, or general tips and tricks, we’re looking forward to sharing our Friday Five with you each and every week.
This week: Summer Spotlight! Summer has come to an end here at the WELL. We’ve wrapped up six incredible weeks of academic and enrichment workshops. While we would love to share a highlight from each of our workshops, here are just five of the spectacular happenings from the past six weeks:
1. We had a great partnership with Wake County 4-H to provide workshops to students free of charge: iThrive Academy and Bicycle Repair. During iThrive Academy, students discovered their sparks, set goals for themselves for the coming school year, and had a ton of fun in the process!
2. Our College Tours were a success! Students visited area universities and got a brief taste of what it is like to be a student in college.
4. Students got hands-on practice in Hi-Tech Teens! Our three sessions focused on Python, App Development, and HTML/CSS. More to come in the fall! Stay tuned.
5. Another partnership, this time with NCSU College of Engineering, allowed students to explore four different types of engineering. They even made ice cream with liquid Nitrogen!
Well, there you have it–our first Friday Five. Check in next Friday to see what we have in store!
